Andrea Kimi Antonelli tightened his grip on the 2026 Formula 1 championship with victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, as Mercedes teammate and nearest rival George Russell retired. The result moves Antonelli 43 points clear and marks his fourth successive grand prix win.
Despite one car failing to finish, Mercedes remains well out of reach in the constructors' battle. Behind Antonelli and Russell in the drivers' standings, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (75) and Lewis Hamilton (72) lead the chase, with McLaren’s Lando Norris (58) and Oscar Piastri (48) completing the top six. Max Verstappen is seventh on 43 points.
It was a productive outing for Alpine, which scored sixth and eighth to continue its encouraging start to the season.
