The 2023 Formula 1 World Championship saw Max Verstappen deliver one of the most dominant seasons in the sport's history, securing his third consecutive drivers' title with a record-breaking campaign.
Verstappen won 19 of the 22 races held during the season, surpassing his own record from 2022 and establishing a new benchmark for single-season dominance. Red Bull Racing also claimed the constructors' championship with a massive points advantage over their nearest rivals.
Sergio Perez finished second in the drivers' standings, completing a Red Bull one-two in the championship for the first time since 2010. The Mexican driver secured multiple podium finishes throughout the year, though the gap to Verstappen remained substantial.
Lewis Hamilton ended the season third for Mercedes, with the team showing gradual improvement after a difficult 2022 campaign. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz completed the top five, though the Italian team's season was marked by inconsistency.
McLaren emerged as one of the stories of the season, with Lando Norris and the upgraded MCL60 becoming regular front-runners in the second half of the year. Norris secured the team's first victory since 2012 at the season finale, signalling McLaren's return to competitiveness.
The season also saw the debut of several new drivers and the departure of veterans, continuing Formula 1's generational transition.
